Candyman is the calling card of Small Batch, their flagship espresso blend launched in 2010 and still going strong!
A combination of our favourite in season coffees put together to create sweet, balanced espresso, with or without milk. But we personally think this roast is the perfect tribute to the original candy man and stocking stuffer : Santa.
Served Black: grape, plum, lemon pastry, dark chocolate
With milk: Sweet, malted milk, macadamia butter
Components are frequently rotated to ensure broad consistency of the taste profile, cycling through direct purchases from the same producers who also make up our favourite featured “single” coffee products. Candyman features the following producers:
- Guatemala – Highland Smallholders (Huehuetenango)
- Ethiopia – Abiyot Ageze, Ahmed Abatemam
It's important to Small batch that blends comprise quality ingredients that are proudly identified and no less wholesomely purchased. Candyman presently showcases a freshly arrived Guatemalan regional lot that Small Batch built from small producer friends in Huehuetenango region. Even regional blend components are always super sweet, clean and well processed, but simply do not possess the distinguishing characteristics (or volume sufficiency) that enable Small Batch to feature them on their own.
All contributors to Candyman have received price premiums that reflect their artisan efforts and “livelihood” remuneration. Specifically, Marco Aurelio received $1,500,000 pesos per carga (almost double the prevailing Fairtrade price at the time), Highland producers of Huehuetenango received Q1200 per quintal (again substantially above Fairtrade) and the two Ethiopian producers were paid not less than 2.5 times the prevailing market price in February this year when the lots were purchased.
